Dinner at Spagetti Kitchen

A college friend of ours had turned up from US. We decided to gettogether over dinner. The place chosen was Spagetti Kitchen in Lido Mall. Another friend had read "The Hindu" review of the place and found it rated high.

We were in Lido Mall complex around 6.30. The hotel was to open only at 7 PM, but the security at the entrance took our booking for 7.30 PM - a table for 4.

We wandered around the Mall, until 7.40 PM, when we entered the restaurant. I told a waiter that we had a booking and you would want to strike that off the list. He did not appear to understand. The waiter waved us to a bunch of 4 seaters and we took one.

The first thing which stuck was smoke. We realised this was a "smoking" room. We asked, if there was a non-smoking section and were told, there was none.

We wanted to move to a different table, but were told they were "reserved"!

Well! the waiter came over - with no pen or pad or anything. We ordered soups and starter. The waiter went over to the nearly computer console and punched a few buttons. After a few minutes, the starter manifested. For the price, I felt the quantity was less, though the taste was ok.

We also ordered the Main Course as we caught up on our life and work.

Fortunately, after a few minutes, the smoker in the restaurant left the place and one could breathe some clean air.

Along came the main course, but no sign of the soup. My friend asked and the waiters looked puzzled. He asked for the Manager who said there has been some mistake. It was a pathetic insincere apology and it looked as if he didn't really care.

We decided to put some strong feedbacks when the form came post-dinner. To our utter shock, there was no feedback form. The restaurant thought itself above any feedback.

We decided not to offer a single rupee as tip, inasumuch as the bill came to Rs.2,300/- for the 3 of us.

Before I decided to write this, I googled for this restaurant and to my horror, got this feedback as the first match!

Please avoid the place and you will be better for it!
